Family Weekend 2009
The Georgia Tech Parents Program, www.parents.gatech.edu, is a non-profit organization and relies upon the registration fees to offset the costs of producing Family Weekend.
Family Weekend would not be possible if it weren’t for the partnerships we have with many on-campus departments, faculty and staff members and individual colleges and schools. We do most of our Family Weekend programming on Friday to give you the opportunity to have access to all resources including our academic professionals and buildings. Many of these resources would not be available to you on Saturday or Sunday.
Programming for Saturday consists of our annual Family Weekend tailgate and attendance at the Georgia Tech football game. Since we will not know the kick-off time until 10 days prior to Family Weekend, we are unable to schedule additional programming on that day.
We do encourage you to use your “Family Pass” to the Campus Recreation Center that is valid the entire weekend. Spend some family time with your student while enjoying all of the amenities this award-winning facility has to offer.
While Family Weekend events take place on Friday and Saturday there is plenty to do on-campus and around town. Click here for more information.
If any changes to the schedule occur, a complete and updated listing of events will be available when you pick up your registration packet. The Family Weekend Web site www.familyweekend.gatech.edu will also reflect any changes. Families who register for Family Weekend events will receive an e-mail prior to the event with friendly reminders, directions and updated information.
Indicating the seminars you plan to attend assists us with determining room capacity. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis the day of the event.
Tickets and updated information will be available during any of the Family Weekend Check-In hours. All family members need tickets to the events.

Please dress comfortable and casual. We recommend tennis shoes for those attending GT Night at Six Flags. We hope for good weather, but please be prepared in case of rain.
The Parents Program Web site www.parents.gatech.edu provides information on parent volunteer opportunities and other beneficial resources. Please contact Kim Sterritt, kimberly.sterritt@vpss.gatech.edu, Director of the Parents Program, at 404.385.3919 if you have any questions.
The Admissions Office gives campus tours Monday through Friday at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. (except on holidays). A current Georgia Tech student will lead you on a 75-90 minute walk around campus. Tour groups are able to see campus common areas such as the Student Center as well as typical classrooms, the library, and a dorm room. Some of the highlights include the Campus Recreation Center and Bobby Dodd Stadium.
As their tour is a walking tour, comfortable shoes are advised. In case of inclement weather, it is best to be prepared with rain gear as tours take place rain or shine. For students and guests with physical handicaps or injuries who are unable to participate in a walking tour, other arrangements can be made ahead of time by calling our office at 404.385.1396. Please note: Tours begin and end in the Bill Moore Student Success Center.
